Sophie Stark
Sophie Stark is a Macmillan Specialist Dietitian based within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, with over three years of clinical experience. Following her initial rotations as a Band 5 Dietitian, Sophie developed a strong passion for supporting people affected by cancer, which led to her progression into a Band 6 specialist role.
Sophie has a particular interest in the nutritional management of head and neck cancer, with a focus on the complex challenges associated with treatment and recovery, including malnutrition, treatment-related side effects, enteral feeding, and nutritional rehabilitation. In her specialist role, she provides comprehensive nutritional assessment and intervention for patients throughout the cancer pathway, supporting individuals undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Sophie is passionate about empowering patients and their families with practical, evidence-based advice, enabling them to optimise their nutritional intake and quality of life throughout treatment and recovery.
Committed to continual professional development, Sophie is currently undertaking a master's-level module in the management of head and neck cancer and aspires to complete a full master's degree in the future. Through both her clinical practice and postgraduate studies, she is dedicated to advancing her specialist knowledge and improving the quality of nutritional care provided to people living with and beyond cancer.
Sophie has contributed to the Nutricia Oncology Advisory Board and regularly engages in professional development through attendance at British Dietetic Association Oncology Specialist Group study days and educational events. Alongside her clinical work, she actively supports service development initiatives within her department, helping to drive improvements in patient care and service delivery.
