Sade Allott is a specialist dietitian with the Active Together Cancer Rehabilitation Service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her love of food and desire to help others inspired her to become a dietitian. During a student placement at an oncology hospital in Sheffield, she discovered that she particularly wanted to support people living with cancer. She qualified in 2016 and gained experience in general surgery and oncology before moving into oncology prehabilitation in 2022.

As the first dietitian to join the pioneering Active Together service, Sade helped develop its approach to nutritional care as the programme expanded from Sheffield into other parts of Yorkshire. She has created dietary resources, online video content, nutritional pathways, and dietetic working groups for oncology prehabilitation. She has also presented on nutrition and Active Together to master’s students, anaesthetists, consultants, and other allied health professionals. To further develop her specialist knowledge, she completed a master’s-level module in cancer prehabilitation and rehabilitation at Sheffield Hallam University. Active Together has also been recognised in a national cancer plan as an example of best practice in oncology prehabilitation.

Her current research examines changes in body weight and body composition among people with upper gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers and their relationship with surgical outcomes. After successfully securing an NIHR research grant, Sade became joint principal lead for the project. Through this work, she hopes to strengthen the evidence base and inform guidelines and recommendations that support safe, evidence-based care.
